How to convert PDF pages to images
- Upload a PDF (up to 50 MB).
- Choose the output format: JPG for smaller files, PNG for sharp text and graphics.
- Choose image quality: Standard, High or Very High. Higher settings render more pixels per page.
- For JPG, choose the compression quality (70%, 85% or 95%).
- Select Convert PDF to Images, then download single pages or Download All as ZIP.
JPG or PNG?
PNG keeps text edges crisp and suits diagrams, slides and screenshots, but files are larger. JPG is much smaller and fine for photos and general previews. If you need to edit the text later, keep the PDF; images contain no selectable text.
Limitations
- Password-protected PDFs can’t be opened. Remove the password in your PDF reader first.
- Very long documents at the highest quality need a lot of memory; convert on a computer if a phone struggles.
- Rendering uses the open-source PDF.js engine in your browser. Files are not uploaded to a LIVETOOLSLAB server.
Which quality setting to choose
| Setting | Best for |
|---|---|
| Standard | Previews, sharing on chat apps, thumbnails |
| High | Slides, documents read on screen |
| Very High | Printing, zooming into small text or diagrams |
Higher settings render each page with more pixels, so files and processing time grow quickly on long documents.
Troubleshooting
- Text looks blurry: choose High or Very High, or PNG output.
- Fonts look different: some PDFs don’t embed their fonts; the browser substitutes a standard font.
- Conversion stops on a phone: long documents at high quality can exceed the browser’s memory. Use Standard quality or a computer.
