PDF Tools
LIVETOOLSLAB’s PDF tools make PDFs smaller, turn PDF pages into images and turn images into PDFs, all inside your browser using the open-source PDF.js, pdf-lib and jsPDF libraries.
Typical workflows
- Submitting documents to a portal: photograph the pages, combine them with Image to PDF, then run PDF Compressor if the file is over the size limit.
- Posting a page from a report: convert with PDF to Image (PNG for text-heavy pages), then compress the image with the image compressor if needed.
- Emailing a large scan: PDF Compressor on Balanced, check readability, and keep the original.
Choosing the right PDF tool
- Email or portal says the PDF is too big: PDF compressor. Best for scans and image-heavy files.
- Need a page as a picture for slides or social media: PDF to image converter.
- Have photos of documents and need one PDF: image to PDF converter.
What browser-based PDF tools can't do
They can’t open password-protected PDFs, and they don’t run OCR, so text in scanned images isn’t made searchable. The PDF compressor turns pages into images, which removes selectable text and links; keep your original file when you need those.
Frequently asked questions
No. The files are read and processed in your browser and are not uploaded to a LIVETOOLSLAB server.
Each tool accepts files up to 50 MB. Long documents need more memory, so use a computer for very large files.
