How to make a QR code

  1. Enter a URL or any text.
  2. Choose the image size, from 200 × 200 to 800 × 800 pixels.
  3. Select Generate QR Code, then download the PNG or copy it to your clipboard.

Codes include the standard four-module white border (the “quiet zone”) that scanners need, and use error-correction level M, which tolerates some damage or smudging.

Tips for codes that scan reliably

  • Test before printing. Scan with two different phones.
  • Keep content short. Long text makes a denser code that’s harder to scan. Link to a page instead of pasting paragraphs.
  • Print large enough. As a rough guide, keep printed codes at least 2 × 2 cm, larger if people scan from a distance.
  • Keep contrast high: dark code on a light background.
  • Add a UTM-tagged link to see in analytics how many visits came from a printed code.

Static codes don't expire

The code contains your text or link directly, so it works as long as the destination exists. Nothing is tracked or redirected through LIVETOOLSLAB. To change the destination later, you’d need a new code (or a link you control that redirects).

Testing checklist before printing

  1. Scan with an iPhone camera and an Android camera.
  2. Scan from the distance people will actually stand.
  3. Check that the link opens the right page on mobile and loads quickly.
  4. Print a test copy at final size. Screens are more forgiving than paper.
